(representing Past Pupils of all Loreto Schools)

October 2011

Dear Member,

crest - webAs the year 2011 draws to a close, I am delighted to say that we have an action-packed few months coming up and I hope to see some, if not all of you, before the year comes to a close.

Peru - Foxrock Global Church Group are organising a visit to Peru which will include a visit to the Loreto Sisters' Mission outside Lima.  The tour also includes a visit to the birthplace of St. Martin de Porres, the Sacred Valley of the Incas and Lake Titicara.  For details contact Map Travel on 01 8783111.

Trip to Killarney - I am looking forwar to this trip and to seeing many of you in the Malton Hotel.  If anyone is still interested in coming, the hotel could let us have one or two more rooms.  Please feel free to contact us.

The Mass for Deceased Members will be in Loreto Hall on Sunday 13th November at 2.45pm.  Parking will be available in Loreto School grounds from 2.00pm to 2.30pm.  So that we may include all their names in the Candle Ceremony, please let us have the names and school details of any past pupils who died during the year as soon as possible.  Families of the deceased are welcome to attend.  On behalf of the LPPU I extend sympathy to all family members and friends of the deceased.

The Annual Christmas Lunch will be in the Stillorgan Park Hotel, Stillorgan Road, Dublin 18 at the earlier date of 26th November.  A booking form is available.  In recent years past pupils of Loreto schools have used the event to organise class reunions.  Should you wish to organise such a reunion, perhaps you would let Central Office know as soon as possible.  The Annual Raffle will be held at the lunch.  Books of tickets are availabe from Central Office.  Your support for the Raffle, which is always a major fundraiser, will be greatly appreciated.

Neven Maguire Cookery Demonstration  - 7th December 2011.  This year I am delighted to say that Neven Maguire has agreed to do a Christmas Cookery Demonstration in Loreto College, 53 St. Stephen's Green.  This will be held in conjunction with a Christmas Fair.  A maximum of 300 tickets will be available so I advise that you book early.  Tickets are priced at €30 per person and will include free programme, raffle tickets and wine reception.  Tickets will be posted on receipt of payment.  Doors open at 7.00pm.

Carol Singing  in Grafton Street for our Charity Fund will take place on Thursday 15th December 2011.  Girls from Loreto Stephen's Green will sing from 12 noon to 1.30pm, Loreto Foxrock 1.30pm to 3.00pm and Loreto Dalkey 3.00pm to 6.00pm.  This year I am delighted to tell you that "Verdi 53" past pupils from Loreto Stephen's Green will sing from 6.00pm to 8.00pm.  We hope that the beautiful singing, as in previous years, will raise a large sum for our Christmas Charity Fund.

With every good wish and gratitude for your continued support,

Yours sincerely,

Alison Byrne

President
